The collaborative project SynergyFuels surpassed its halfway point and entered the phase of sharing results through scientific papers, planning, and commissioning the fuel plants on a demonstration scale. The consortium reunited again in April 2025 at the project partner TFZ site in Straubing. It was the third in-person meeting since the project’s kick-off in April 2023.

The event was an excellent opportunity to present last year’s results from each work package and discuss the final details of the annual report. Besides the exchange between coworkers during their technical presentations, the program also included an exciting guest lecture entitled “Carbon sources for synthetic fuels – what does the current legal framework allow?” held by Dipl.- Wirt.-Ing. Maike Schmidt from the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW). Finally, the participants visited the industrial area at the Straubing harbor, where multipurpose facilities (BioCampus Multipilot) can be tested and demonstrated in the near future.
The collaborative project SynergyFuels, which integrates bioeconomy and green hydrogen economy to boost the production of renewable fuels, has moved beyond the halfway mark. With promising partial results, we are excited to work towards demonstrating these processes on a ton scale. This milestone meeting reinforced our shared vision of sustainability aligned with biotechnology and set the course for the subsequent phases. Look around the website to find posts on specific technologies developed within the project. Stay tuned as we turn concepts into tangible solutions for a more sustainable world, and get in touch to learn more about SynergyFuels.
