Christoph Gunkel and Susanne Müller, research associates at the working group for Microbial Biotechnology (Technical University of Munich), presented their work on microbial isobutanol production at the annual conference of the Association of General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM) at the Ruhr-University Bochum. The annual conference of the VAAM brings together researchers from different fields of microbiology to share and discuss the latest developments in microbiology, ranging from basic research for example on microbial communities or AI-based protein simulation to applied research on sustainable production of chemicals.
Christoph and Susanne presented scientific posters on the influence of lignocellulose-derived inhibitors on isobutanol production with Corynebacterium glutamicum and had the opportunity to discuss our research findings with fellow researchers. The findings have the potential to improve fermentation processes that convert natural, intricate carbon sources into fuels and chemicals.
